Bozo story for Monday: Bad Cost Cutting Move- With the economy in the toilet, a lot of us have been coming up with creative cost-cutting moves to save a few bucks. But growing your own pot is probably not one you want to try. In Tyler, Texas, police arrested 55-year-old John Daniel Miller III after they found more than 70 marijuana plants growing on his property -- most of them encircled by old tires lining his driveway. Miller told deputies he knew they were coming "sooner or later" and explained that he was cultivating his own pot because the cost of buying it from dealers had gone up.
Bozo story for Tuesday: COPS GET BONUS DURING DRUG BUST- In Salina, Kansas, four arrests were made for possession of illegal drugs and paraphernalia -- two of which were unexpected. Officers were serving warrants at trailer homes early Friday afternoon. An agent was stationed behind one trailer when officers knocked and announced their presence. Apparently, the residents of a trailer next door thought
their trailer was being raided and tossed packets of drugs and paraphernalia out the back window -- in plain site of one of the cops. Ironically, occupants of the trailer that was being visited had no drugs on them, or inside.
Bozo story for Wednesday: CELL PHONE BUSTS HIM IN SCAM- A man accused of trying to extort $500 from a Pizza Hut in Elko, Nevada, was foiled by his own cell phone camera. Police said a former employee of the restaurant allegedly called the manager on Friday and told him he had five Pizza Hut signs that are used on the roofs of vehicles and wouldn't return them unless he was paid $500. Police said the manager wanted proof that the man had the signs. So the 23-year-old sent him a cell phone picture that proved to be his undoing. Officers were able to zoom in on license plate numbers of two vehicles in the background that are registered to the man.
Bozo story for Thursday: MAN FLEES, CHANGES APPEARANCE, CALLS COPS- In Stoystown, Pennsylvania, Robert Stafford was pulled over by police after he was seen driving with a broken taillight. As the officer approached, Stafford jumped out of the car and fled into the nearby woods. It was then he hatched his plan. He went home, shaved off his mustache, changed his clothes and called police to report his car had been stolen. As luck would have it, the same officer was sent to his house to investigate the reported theft. Guess his new look wasn't that different after all. The officer recognized him and charged him with drunken driving, escape, and related charges.
Bozo story for Friday: COPPER THIEF GETS STUCK- A suspected thief trying to steal $10 worth of copper got himself into a tight situation when he was trapped under a trash bin at a county landfill in South Carolina. Deputies said Gibson Cook broke into the landfill, then got stuck as he tried to crawl under the large container. Landfill workers found him about 12 hours later with his legs sticking out from under the bin. Emergency workers had to inflate air bags so they could lift the bin to free him.
