Good Monday Morning! I'm in Nashville...heading into a hot, sunny day. I am sitting at a coffee house called Fido's which is in Hillsboro Village- near Vanderbilt. Apparently this place is Dierks Bentley's fave place to walk to with his wife and their dogs....I keep calling out his name..."Dierks? Dierks? Are you here? Dierks?" but there isn't anyone here answering to that name....maybe next time. Okay....seriously I am here with a laptop just drinking my latte and people watching. It's kinda funny because this place is packed and it's a Monday morning....doesn't anyone work in this city?! They do...but this is kinda an artsy area and I think alot of people that live in this area are songwriters, singers, publishers, etc etc ...music people who have weird work hours. Had a pretty cool weekend....went out Friday night and net up with some old friends. Ended up on lower Broadway until way too late for me. Listened to some great live music, had a few beers, took some crazy pictures, did a video blog for you all to see...and that was it. We had a running joke all night that I kept on thinking I saw Gabe Garcia (runner up on Nashville Star)...it never was Gabe but then the next morning we went to breakfast at the famous Loveless Cafe for some serious southern style breakfast and guess who we really did see??? Gabe Garcia! No lie....that is so weird when that happens you know!...Anyways, talked to him for awhile. He was waiting to get a table with a songwriter/publisher/fellow Texan friend of his. I told him all about what I was doing down here and they both were pumped about what a cool idea it is. Having 1/2 of our morning show on the scene seems to be cool so far.... they told me where to hang out, said to keep in touch, etc etc. On to Sunday night....I went to Tootsie's Orchid Lounge to see a local songwriters' showcase. Was cool to see some local peeps up on stage getting a chance to show off their stuff. The dude that wrote Craig Morgan's Redneck Yacht Club was there so he sang that which was fun to hear. As I was walking out I saw Shawn Mayer (3rd place on Nashville Star)- she was hanging out and they brought her up onstage to sing a few songs. She was GREAT! And super nice. Talked for a little while. Got a pic for our website....and she is way smaller on person that on tv! So....that was my weekend. My engineer comes tomorrow to set up my studio equipment so cross your fingers that all goes smoothly and we will be broadcasting live from Music City Wednesday morning! Keep reading, and watching the blogs....getting ready to upload them this week....and lots more to come :) |
