If you haven't heard the news...Here it is again!
Hey! It's Katie and I am beyond excited for the future of "George & Katie in the Morning" on Waxx! In August I will be moving to Nashville, a.k.a Music City, and doing my half of the morning show live every day from my studio there. George will still be here in Eau Claire. This is an amazing opportunity that we are so excited about. This type of radio has never been done before! I can't wait to bring Music City to you each morning. You will still hear the George & Katie you already know (& Love!)talking about the Chippewa Valley and life here in Wisconsin, but with more country! My goal is to bring a little bit of Nashville to you by interviewing your favorite country stars, taking LOTS of photos, going to artist number 1 parties, shooting video blogs, and basically being your direct link to country music. I will be back to see you plenty of times throughout the year so that'll be cool too. Thank you for all your support over the years. Without it, I wouldn't be able to do this. Waxx has an outstanding reputation and I promise to do you proud in Nashville! We hope that you are as excited as we are about my move to Nashville. Keep listening!!

Recently we talked about the must have numbers everyone should have in their cell phones.  The all important list is as follows:
-Put your family on ICE, which stands for In Case of Emergency.  Paramedics recommend programming ANY      emergency contact in your cell phone after the word ICE, as in "ICE-wife" or "ICE-dad".  The idea is that if you get into an accident, police can use your phone to quickly notify someone.
-1-800-GOOG-411.  That's 466-4411.  It's a Google service that lets you request information just as you would on a web browser.  Ask for "Italian Restaurants" and you'll get a list of spaghetti and meatball joints within the area code you're calling from, and Google won't charge you.
-866-411-SONG.  Ever been dying to know the song and artist you just heard on WAXX?  Call this number and holf your phone to the speaker for 15 seconds.  The service will I.D.any song within their database of 2.5 million tunes.  Then you'll be sent a text message listing the title and artist.
-800-TAXI-CAB. This is a free service that connects you with the closest taxi company within any metro area in North America.  They'll also hook you up with a shuttle service if you're stranded at the airport. 
And my personal "must have" in my cell phone....Randy's Family Restaurant in Eau Claire....you know, in case of emergency pancakes :)

We found a funny article on the benefits of being a woman.  It was so true (according to me!) and very funny.  Some of the benefits were as follows:
-We can be groupies.  Male groupies are stalkers.
-We can scare male bosses with mysterious gynecological disorder excuses. (although I've never used this, I think this benefit is the funniest!)
-We don't look like a frog in a blender when dancing.
-No fashion faux pas we make could ever rival The Speedo.
-We can congratulate our teammate without ever touching her butt.
-We can talk to people of the opposite sex without ever having to picture them naked. (Alex confirmed that men actually do do this!)
-We can fully assess a person just by looking at their shoes.

Last week we talked about the new hockey team we hear may be coming to Eau Claire!  The team they are looking to form is for young men ages 17-20.  They need a name and we looked to you today to help create their team name.  Thanks for your calls!  Was so much fun....here they are:

A good friend of mine, Ed Domain, is the co-founder of www.troopspace.net  He has created this networking site which is similar to facebook and myspace.  It's a site for current military members, ex military members, family & friends of those serving in the military, and of course anyone who supports the military.  Check it out!  It's an awesome idea and I support it 100%!

-COUNTRY  MUD:  Sugarland's new album, Love On The Inside, is out and it's all about the fans.  Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush wanted to deliver more than the average album to their loyal supporters.  Together they created a Deluxe Fan Edition that will include 17 tracks (12 regular and 5 bonus) in special  packaging with an expanded CD booklet, as well as access to download exclusive music video and "behind the scenes making of the album" footage.  Love On The Inside Regular Edition will consist of 12 songs and a regular CD booklet and hits stores July 29th.

Tim McGraw is working on a new movie with actor Robert Duvall called Get Low.  It will be out sometime in 2009, but no other details are available.  This will be Tim's fourth major film role following Four Christmases this December, Flica in 2006, and Friday Night Lights in 2004.

Seems like every celeb is selling their babies photos to all the celebrity gossip magazines....well, guess who isn't??  Keith and Nicole!  They have had tons of offers but as of now they are choosing not to share the photos with the world....good for them!

Kellie Pickler wants to put her vocal chords on rest and put her feet to the test!  An American Idol on Dancing With The Stars...it could happen.  The 22-year-old does have some reservations though.  While she can "go to the clubs and shake it" Kellie is unsure how she'll deal with the technical side of dancing.  Love to see her try though~ she'll be great and fun to watch!

We got the scoop on the Kidman/Urban baby name!  Sunday Rose Kidman Urban....Keith's father-in-law tells People Magazine that he and his wife suggested the name Sunday to Keith and Nicole because there was a lady named Sunday Reed who was a key mover and shaker in the arts in Australia at the turn of the century.  He also thought Sunday sounded like a nice name for a girl.  The baby's middle name, Rose, is after Urban's late grandmother. 

Got a kick out of an article out of Colorado regarding Country Jam in Grand Junction (our Country Jam has a twin event in Co every June).  One health official calls the annual Country Jam festival "Woodstock" because it drives up pregnancies there each year.  A spokesperson for one family agency said on average her health clinic sees between 25 to 30 pregnancies a month.  She says five weeks after the festival that number jumps to almost 80 a month!  Okay people SERIOUSLY!  Have some self control...or at least some birth control! :)

Keith Urban is a daddy!  Keith and Nicole welcomed a daughter, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban into the world Monday morning.  She weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces and mom and baby are doing very well.  A delighted Keith expressed his and Nicole's baby joy with this statement he released to his website, "Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban.  We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their thoughts and prayers.  We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today."

Taylor Swift asks and she receives!  Taylor has always thought that if she had the opportunity to tape a "CMT Crossroads" she would want Def Leppard to share the stage with her.  Her wish will come true when CMT will pair the country superstar with the rockers on the newest addition of "Crossroads".  The show will tape in October and air on CMT November 8th.

American Idol season seven finalist Kristy Kee Cook has inked a deal with 19 recordings/Arista Records (same label as Carrie Underwood) and will release her debut CD in the coming months.  Her first single will be called 15 Minutes Of Shame.  She will tour as part of the summer's Idol tour in the coming weeks and will work on the album during her time off the road.

Keith Anderson's mother has died.  Janice Anderson passed away yesterday after a lengthy illness.  Keith is very close to his family and often credits them with helping him keep hsi feet on the ground while he has worked to make it in music. 

Tim McGraw took security matters into his own hands during a show last Tuesday night in Washington after officials weren't quick enough to respond to a man in a physical altercation with a female fan in the audience during his show.  Tim and his crew pulled the man onstage and apprehended him until security came to escort him out.  Watch the video at people.com and LAUGH!  The guy is a little on the round side....so it's kinda funny watching Tim pulling him up.

Blake Shelton tells People.com he's in "paradise" with girlfriend Miranda Lambert, the isn't quite ready for a secong wedding just yet.  Blake says, "I've got an important decision to make before I would ever ask Miranda to marry me.  And that's if I'm okay with getting my ass kicked about once a month every time I make her mad.  That's definitely a concern I have, but that's my favorite thing about her is her attitude."

If Eric Church's upcoming CD Carolina gets some special treatment when it's released in the fall, it'll be thanks to students at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.  That's because they've been studying the singer and will create a marketing campaign to support the album's release. 

Keith Urban's wife, Nicole Kidman, says in the new issue of Vogue magazine that the couple have made a pact to never be a part from each other for more than five days.  She also tells Vogue that while she was married to Tom Cruise she believed she would never be able to give birth to a baby of her own so being pregnant now with her husband Keith's baby has been an overwhelming and surreal feeling.  Nicole said she cried tears of joy the first time she had an ultrasound.   

George Strait's Amarillo By Morning, Hank William Jr's Family Tradition and Keith Urban's Days Go By are just a few of the songs that are a part of the compilation 20 Great Country Songs of the Century, to be released by the Country Music Hall of Fame on July 22.  Other artists with tracks on the set include Dolly Parton, Randy Travis, Marty Robbins, and Conway Twitty.

For the first time, The National Museum of Patriotism in Atlanta is giving its annual patriotism awards to celebritites.  Recipients this year: Lee Greenwood (for his efforts to entertain the troops), the late Tim Russert (for his body of work helping shape of history), and actor Louis Gossett Jr. (for his work with the military).  The awards will be handed out at a gala in the fall.  Come see Lee Greenwood perform at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair in Chippewa Falls in the free grandstand on Sunday, July 13th.

Carrie Underwood is featured in the current issue of Cosmopolitan and tells us 25 things we don't know about her.  In the list she includes that she's a "burper", wears sweats everywhere she goes, feels like an unorganized mess all day long if she doesn't make her bed, and faces all the labels out when organizing the food in her refridgerator.  Although she may appear to be sexy, Carrie promises she is socially awkward, not sensuous, and generally a nervous person.

Rascal Flatts will appear in the upcoming Hannah Montana movie.  Hannah Montana: The Movie, starring Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus, is currently filming in Tennessee, outside of Nashville.  The film is scheduled for release in theaters in 2009.

Congratulations to Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts!  He and his wife, Playboy playmate Tiffany Fallon, welcomed their first child, a son, into the world on May 31st.  Jagger Donovan Rooney weighed 6.45 lbs and both mom and baby are healthy and doing well.  

The website Country On Demand reports Sugarland's upcoming CD, Love On The Inside, will be released in limited edition form on July 22nd, with the actual regular edition to be out one week later.  The limited edition will contain five bonus tracks, including their version of Life In A Northern Town with Jake Owen, and Little Big Town.  Okay....finally!  You have been asking and asking AND asking where you can get this song!  And now you know :)

Forbes Magazine's list of the Top 10 Grossing Country Artists of 2007 has Toby Keith listed at the top.  The figures are based on concert and album sales, revenue from endorsements, and other areas.  Toby's biggest endorsement deal was for Ford.  Plus he has restaurants.  The Top 10 are as follows:

Dierks Bentley and his wife Cassidy are expecting their first baby!  The couple who married in Mexico in December of 2005 are currently vacationing there and tell us the baby will arrive in the fall and they have decided to keep the sex of the baby a surprise.  Congrats to them!

With 37 successful albums under his belt, do you ever wonder which one is George Strait's favorite?  It's the 1984 set, Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind, because it was the first album his producers allowed him to pick all the songs for and truly allowed hin to begin his own career path.

Tim McGraw's first cologne, McGraw by Tim McGraw, will be out in August.  The scent is described as spicy and woody and contains elements of lavender, sandlewood, nutmeg and aged whiskey.  He will appear in print and tv ads to promote its release.  Tim in a bottle?  Ummm, yes please!
 
Kenny Chesney is selling his $7.4 million home in Malibu, California.  The 3,723 square foot home is the second piece of property he's put on the market this year after selling his home in the Virgin Islands earlier this year fir $14 million.
